This antenna is crap.
My $11.99 budget antenna Catalog #15-1874 from Radio Shack worked better, getting all my locals. This pos didn’t even pick up half of them.

The last review was 6-7 months ago. I wonder how this RCA Smart Antenna is working for people now that more stations have switched to digital?

I was looking for RCA because I have an old RCA “amplified rabbit ears” from Walmart and it gets more digital channels than the old “amplified Sony rabbit ears” that I have. So I was going to look for an RCA “digital antenna” (and one of my DTV boxes does have the “smart port”/ie, the Tivax STB8 box).

But after reading these reviews, I dunno…. It doesn’t sound too promising.

Antennaweb.org says I need an “Amplified MEDIUM Multi-Directional Antenna” but I can’t find one that says “MEDIUM.”

All this digital mess is the most frustrating thing. Plain Ol’ TV as it was was FINE with me. ;-/

Works Great

Product work well (in Downtown San Diego), with one exception – no channel for CBS. Got all the other channels, even some digital channels, but no CBS. Will continue to use SMART antenna until a better, more permanent solution can be afforded. I would recommend purchasing this product.

advertised as a “smart antenna”. I could tell only a slight difference in this an the 1500 which is not a smart antenna

Best SMART Antenna made

Only works with converter boxes (TV’s will have them in 2009) that have the SMART Antenna connector (looks like off set phone jack). I found the Quick search was best to start with to find the best placement, then the LONG Full Search (1hour!) locked in reception. Not as subject to interference as rabbit ears with RCA DTA800 was. I have tried over 10 other antennae and this one is BEST

Better than Rca Ant 1500, but not as good as expected. It’s still position sensitive. Picture quality
depends on where you place it. Some location gives
stronger signal (the strongest around 20-30). But it
works OK to get digital reception.
